Amsterdam Van Gogh Museum holds the largest collection in the world of the world’s most popular artist Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890). The paintings, drawings, letters and more, completed with art of his contemporaries. Each year over 1.6 million guests come to visit the museum. This means the Van Gogh Museum is in the top 25 of most popular museums in the world. In 2015, the museum added the new glass entrance hall at the back of its building.
The collection at the van Gogh museum Amsterdam holds over 200 paintings of Vincent van Gogh, 530 drawings and also works of other important artists, Impressionists and Postimpressionists. At the museum all the works of Van Gogh is organized chronologically into five different periods, each periode representing a different phase of his life and his work: The Netherlands, Paris, Arles, Saint-Remy and Auvers-sur-Oise.
